Prevention Services
Our hope is to create a society free from
domestic violence. Our prevention services bring us closer to
achieving this goal by spreading the message that no one deserves
abuse.
Community Education
With the prevalence of domestic violence in our
society, chances are you already know someone affected by domestic
violence. SAVE’s community engagement specialists speak to service
groups, faith-based organizations, or any gathering interested in
learning about the dynamics of an abusive relationship. The
presentation will include the myths – and truths – about
domestic violence, the warning signs of abuse, the reasons why the
victim stays in the relationship, and what you can do to help a
victim. This training is also valuable for professionals who assist
abuse victims and their families, such as health care providers and
social service organizations.

Teen Dating Violence Prevention
Teen dating violence is on the rise and almost
becoming the “norm” in youth relationships; indeed, statistics show
that 1 in 3 high school students have been or will be in an abusive
relationship. Teens in abusive relationships have similar
experiences as adults. They experience sexual, physical, emotional
and verbal abuse. SAVE’s teen dating violence prevention program
educates youth at junior high and high schools about the reality and
prevalence of relationship abuse. Through our presentations we
provide information about the foundation of healthy vs. unhealthy
relationships, the forms of abuse, the cycle of violence, and the
influence of culture and gender roles.

Workplace Violence Education
The cost of domestic violence to US businesses
is between $3 and $5 billion per year in lost productivity, and an
astonishing 94% of US corporate security directors rank the problem
as a high security challenge at their companies. With these
statistics in mind, it is imperative for corporations and businesses
to educate their management staff about the impact of domestic
violence on the workplace. SAVE’s Workplace Violence Education
program is intended to teach managers and human resources staff how
to improve productivity and reduce employment expenses through
education on the signs of domestic violence, employment laws that
protect domestic violence victims, and steps to take to keep the
victim and co-workers safe while at work. We are also available for
consultations on specific situations or issues.
