Volunteer
SAVE relies on volunteers to help us with our mission of promoting alternatives to family violence. Last year, volunteers donated more than 1200 hours of their valuable time. There are several opportunities to volunteer with SAVE. Contact the Community Office for more information.
Office work – Assist with data entry, filing, copying, phone calls, formatting documents, miscellaneous administrative tasks. MS-Office software knowledge a plus. Students and senior citizens are encouraged to apply.
Special Events – Solicit donations and help with administrative tasks.
Speaker’s Bureau/Community Outreach – Present to local organizations and groups about domestic violence and SAVE. Staff a table at health fairs and employee fairs. Also contact groups to arrange and schedule presentation.
If you would like to volunteer for office work, special events/fundraising, or speaker's bureau/community outreach, complete a volunteer application and volunteer agreement. Mail/fax/or deliver to the SAVE community office. You will be contacted soon after the application is received. NOTE: If you would like to work directly with clients as a direct services volunteer, please read the information below and download the “Direct Services Volunteer Application,” instead.
Board of Directors – SAVE is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors. Diverse individuals with a variety of skills, knowledge, and experience are regularly recruited to join the Board.
Direct Service – State law requires volunteers to complete a 40-hour domestic violence counselor training course before working directly with domestic violence clients. SAVE offers this training several times a year. Once certified, volunteers can answer our 24-hour crisis hotline, co-facilitate support groups, help at our emergency shelter, work with children, or assist at a Temporary Restraining Order clinic.
Domestic Violence Counselor Training
Domestic violence affects hundreds of thousands of women, men, and children each year. Due to state budget cuts, many victims no longer have access to resources that may help them or save their lives.
You can help by becoming a Domestic Violence Counselor certified in the state of California. State law requires individuals to complete 40 hours of Domestic Violence Counselor Training before they can work directly with domestic violence victims.
SAVE’s next 40-Hour Training Session begins March 2nd, and we would like for you to join us!
