Calendar - Special Events - SAVE Holiday Giving 2006

Thank you in advance for making this holiday season brighter for our clients. This year, our goal for the holiday giving program is to balance basic needs with gifts. We must give clients more than a once-a-year special gift. We must help them in their lives every day with safety, shelter, sustenance and life skills.

As we are facing more funding cuts while client needs increase, this is becoming more challenging. For example, our annual budget for motel vouchers (which we need when our shelter is full) will run out in 6 months. We don’t feel this is a viable option and hope you don’t, either!

Below are a few ways you can help SAVE’s clients at this holiday season. You can choose to donate to SAVE, choose to give clients gift cards – or you can divide up your budgeted donation amount among the choices (donate a portion to SAVE and also give clients gift cards). Thank you.

Give to SAVE: The most important gift you can give to our clients is their safety. Donations of food, clothing and gifts are wonderful support for the holidays. But, we ask you to help SAVE truly change their lives by supporting our programs. SAVE works ardently to maintain a high level of service with the purpose of empowering our clients to be safe from abuse. But we can not do it alone. Please make your holiday gift to SAVE a monetary donation so our current and prospective clients can have the best holiday ever – one free of abuse and fear. 

Give Gift Cards: Most of our clients are in a state of transition and have little storage. For these families, gift cards are the best option. They can then buy what they need – when they need it. Also, new families come in to our shelter consistently and gift cards allow us to provide for them throughout the year, not just at the holiday season. Some suggested stores that have a good variety of merchandise are: Target, Wal-Mart, Albertson’s, and Safeway. Also, BART or AC Transit passes make a great gift. And movie theater tickets are great for the whole family.  Please bring gift cards to SAVE’s Community Office at 39155 Liberty Street, Suite C310, Fremont, CA 94538.
