Current open positions:
Community Engagement Specialist
The Community Engagement Specialist is a member of
the Prevention Services team and reports to the Manager of
Prevention Services. Prevention Services includes the COPS Program
and the Community Outreach Program. The primary goals of the
Prevention Services team are to educate and empower individuals and
communities with information about intimate partner violence to end
the cycle of violence and to provide support services to victims and
their families. The Community Engagement Specialist serves as the
liaison between the agency and the community and is responsible for
increasing awareness about intimate partner violence and SAVE’s
services.

Community
Advocate
The
Community Advocates are staff members working in the COPS Program at
Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments. Community Advocates are
out stationed in five police departments (Fremont, Hayward, Union
City, Newark, and San Leandro), at the SAVE office, and at the
Restraining Order Clinics. The Community Advocates are responsible
for providing on-site support to victims of domestic violence,
crisis intervention, peer counseling, safety planning, advocacy, and
education about domestic violence to victims, police officers, and
the community at large. Community Advocates report to the Manager
of Prevention Services.

Employability Case Manager
This position is
responsible for the provision of case management services to
survivors of domestic violence residing in our 30 bed emergency
shelter. Case management services include, but are not limited to;
needs assessment, development of individual case plans, assistance
in securing other social services (Cal WORKS, subsidized childcare,
mental health services, drug/alcohol treatment services), obtaining
employment and longer term housing. The case manager must maintain a
high level of consciousness and sensitivity to battered women, their
children and the issues of battering. The case manager must be
self-motivated, a team player and highly resourceful.
The position is
funded through Alameda County Department of Social Services,
CalWORKs. The Employability Case Manager participates in
collaborative activities with the staff of four other participating
domestic violence shelters.
Bachelor’s degree
in social work, counseling or vocational rehabilitation or
equivalent experience required. Two years experience providing
services to survivors of family violence preferred.
Bi-lingual/bi-cultural preferred.

Crisis Hotline
Counselor
The primary responsibility of the Crisis Hotline
Counselor is to respond to crisis calls via SAVE’s 24-hour crisis
hotline. S/he provides direct services to shelter residents
including (but not limited to) advocacy, crisis intervention and
counseling, information and referral services and meeting
facilitation . S/he is responsible for site security during evening
shifts and provides administrative support for the hotline and
shelter. S/he must be self motivated, a team player, and
resourceful.
